Pocket Change (2023)

When nine-year-old Indy learns that her father doesn’t have enough money for a birthday treat at school, she feels mortified. To keep her situation at home secret from her classmates at all costs, she decides to fix a treat herself.

About Daniël Bakker:

Daniël Bakker (Nijmegen, 1995) directed during his studies at the Netherlands Film Academy several short films, including Touch the Leather, which premiered at Nowness and was selected for the Dutch Film Festival. During his studies, he assisted in directing films such as De Libi (Shady El-Hamus, 2019) and King of the Road (Danyael Sugawara, 2019). Pocket Change is his graduation film. Daniël’s films are intimate and recognizable with flesh and blood characters. He wants to continue making physical films in which youth and teenage years play a major role.
